Jan Stephens is the founder and strategic lead of DRAFT

Jan helps companies develop their best messaging, elevating their brands in sync with their missions and specific goals for growth.

She started DRAFT to fill a void she saw in the corporate space: not nearly enough writers who understand language and (here’s the really good part) love it—its capacity to bring people together, its potential to change ideas, and (here’s the really good part) change the course of those ideas.

She’s pushed large projects on tight deadlines and managed the lengthier types over months. She’s composed and edited thousands of words, working to do justice to her own bylines and also ensuring someone else’s voice resonates.

Based in Atlanta, DRAFT has worked with FORTUNE 500s as well as small companies and nonprofits, handling everything from the routine to the most sensitive communication and everything in between.

Jan double-majored in journalism and English at Auburn University (War Eagle!), then began professional life as a general assignment newspaper reporter before transitioning to public relations and corporate writing. Before DRAFT, she worked for CNN’s public relations department, where she handled messaging for the media conglomerate’s offices in Atlanta, New York and Washington, D.C.
